New Surround Synths in a Stereo mix
Hey Christian, I'm sorry I have been all over this forum this week, but sometimes those questions start hitting you all at once. In the new Logic 8 there are some fantastic new surround synths and pads etc. Will it mess up my bounce/mix if I use them in a normal stereo song. I don't see why they would, but I thought it would be better to ask then mess things up. Thanks as always, mike

Hi Mike, I'm a newbie around here, trying to learn Logic from scratch! I'm no expert on surround, but know a wee bit about stereo compatibilty. If you are taking sounds that were in your rear speakers, and folding them into your front speakers, you need to listen for phasing problems. It's a bit like if you have a big reverb sound in stereo with lots of out of phase signal, then listen to it in mono, it dries up. If something is "moving around" from front to back or from left reat to right rear, (like a mono synth line or something) listen to what that does in stereo as it might come across as just level differences. Hope this isn't teaching granny how to suck eggs! Cheers.

If you have problems when mixing in stereo, you can also use the stereo version of the plugin... not the 5.1 All your settings should be preserved.
