Some of my jam pack loops are comming up as noise, as i open up my old garageband tunes. When attempting to replace these noisey loops they come as noise in the loop browser. Does anybody have a clue how to fix this problem?

If I understand correctly, you're trying to open a GarageBand song in Logic and some loops are coming up as noise. Can you tell us what loops exactly ? Are they .caf files ? Also, what version of GarageBand and Logic are you using ?

Yes, you do understand. Some are .aif and others are .caf. One example that I have just attempted to wrestle with is "Echo Electric Piano 11". It is all pretty bizzare. I am using Logic Pro 8 and the garageband that comes with Tiger. The original songs were made on the garageband that came with panther. Thanks for the reply.

No I also noticed that it is only available as a .caf. I will double check to make sure that it is not only .caf files.... I have tried to find the other loops that were affected but no luck yet. Which I suppose is good but does not really serve this discourse.

Shaker 01 is coming up not as noise but as a distorted percussionist on valium. This was a .aif file.

Ok. I think I understand why these loops are coming out as noise. ".caf" files are a newer format of AppleLoops introduced with iLife 08. ".caf" files can't be read correctly by earlier version of GarageBand. The .caf files were installed with Logic 8. Is your song is playing fine in Logic 8 ? If you want to open your song in GarageBand, one solution would be to upgrade to iLife 08.

The noise occurs both in logic 8 and GB. When originally opening the GB songs in Logic 8 I was prompted to locate the loops manually... which I did. I think in the instances where there were no aif files to select, I selected the caf equivalent. I was then prompted whether I wanted to repair something... I selected the repair option. Which may be the cause of this mess. Now I have to figure out how to figure this out short re -insalling logic 8
