Hi the dime There are quite a few to choose from. What's your budget and how many inputs and outputs would you like. Do you need balanced xlr inputs (high quality inputs for gtr/mic). If you record audio, how many instruments will you be recording at once? Cheers Rounik

Budget is not a huge concern, im looking for a good quality interface, not wanting to cut corners. I will be using mainly for electro music with live bass and using old synths as opposed to soft synths. I will use for recording drums also but not frequently. I will be recording each instrument individually....but understand i could be using more than 4 at once for drums. i have the tapco 220 mix which has more than 8 outputs so im not sure if that means i record more than one track at once via that? Im still quite new to the recording process cheers Tom

Hi Tom Here are some good ones to check out: the apogee ensemble is really well integrated with Logic: http://www.dv247.com/invt/31472/ the RME fireface 800: http://www.dv247.com/invt/21346/ also comes in a 400 flavour (with 4 balanced inputs instead of 8) The Metric Halo is also a very good option: http://www.dv247.com/invt/7225/ The Presonus Firestudio doesn't have as many recommendations as the above two: http://www.dv247.com/invt/38923/ The Motu 8Pre is one I haven't come across (the 828 & 896 is fairly popular but only has two balanced inputs). Motu tends to be reliable and good quality: http://www.dv247.com/invt/36152/ Those are some of the best I've heard of and read about and talked about. Others may have differing opinions and experience... Cheers Rounik

Hi Tom, I am just in the process of getting the last of my Mac Book Pro Studio together. I have purchased a Mackie 1620 Mixer with Firewire option. I love it. Great sound, easy to use and it looks great! John

Hi Rounik, Thanks for the help, top info Do you know if any of these interfaces have had any problems with the new leopard upgrade? I had a tascam us-122 which i used to use with my old set up. I tried to use with the macbook and could not get to register? I heard this was because of the new lepoard upgarde for mac? Cheers Tom

Hi Tom The ensemble has been running well with Logic and Leopard since late last year. The RME 800 seems to have had a few teething issues. You can check out more info here: http://rme-audio.de/forum/viewforum.php?id=4 AFAIK Metric Halo works ok with Leopard. Again, I haven't heard anything to the contrary for the The MOTU or Presonus Firestudio. I've been using my Presonus Firebox with 10.5.1 with no problems. Do check out their websites though for latest info. You can generally find reviews of the above from places like http://www.soundonsound.com/articles/Reviews.php Let us know how you get on. Cheers Rounik
