    pitch bend automation (disabled)
hi if anyone could help me id really appreciate it!! my pitch bend seems to be disabled. im trying to automate it and the little yellow line is greyed out even when i click on it. automation works with other things like volume, pan, etc. but i've never been able to figure out why never with pitch bend!

Hi Raymond - The "little yellow line" suggests that you've got Track Automation selected at the bottom of the Piano Roll Editor.. Switch to Region Automation instead—you should now have a green line and be able to draw in or edit PitchBend data.

thanks for the reply! i've noticed this with other videos i watched but my piano roll doesn't look exactly like that. i don't have an automation button. or at least i can't find it. where yours says "Automation/MIDI" mine says "Controller." it doesn't have that blue Track/Region button either! i wish i knew how to post screenshots on here so that you could get a better look

Ah! Ok, what you're describing is how Region Automation was implemented and displayed in the earliest version(s) of LPX (10.0.0)—what version are you running? I can't remember exactly in which version it was changed to what you see in my original screenshot—maybe 10.1? (My screenshot was taken in 10.4.7—actually the most current version is 10.4.8 which adds additional under-the-hood improvements for Catalina). That said, I'm not sure why pitchbend might be greyed out for you—AFAIR it should work the same way, more or less, despite the different nomenclature (though there were lots of bugs in some of the earliest version(s) of LPX). Obviously I can't duplicate your setup exactly with the newer version of Logic—is there a reason you haven't updated (older macOS, maybe)? The video below is from an older course that dates back to what I think must be LPX 10.0.0—take a look at around 01:43, I assume that's what you're seeing.. (Quote) i wish i knew how to post screenshots on here so that you could get a better look (unquote) Unfortunately at this time only admins and the Forum moderator (me) can attach screenshots..

i have the 10.0.0 version but yes thats exactly what mine looks like! i was using the pointer tool this whole time & it worked with creating the automation line / points with volume and panorama but not with pitch bend.... i just tried using the pencil tool on the greyed out line and it worked!! hahaha thank you so much for your help!
