Drum roll.flams and looking for a sound!
This is a two part question. (A) I would like to make a drum roll or flam for the snare of a drum software instrument. It could be a ultrabeat drum kit, a logic software drum kit, or even a drum kit that I make by indivually creating with samples in the exs24. One way I could think of to do this would be to use the arpeggiator. Does anyone have a cool way to create such rolls and flams for a snare hit? (B) I used to have a Roland synth and it had a built in instrument named "Orchestra Hit". I really want to find a way to add high quality orchestra hits to my logic pieces. I think a similar sound is called an orchestra stab in other synths. Does anyone know a way I can get this sound into my logic projects?

Hey Rover2G, a) You can use the `Hyper Editor to draw in snare rolls, crescendos.....control changes etc etc! You could use an arpeggiator to create them, Steve H. did a funky tutorials in the Logic 303 TNT in February on creating random arpegiations. Check it out: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logicTipsAndTricks b)There are quite a few orchestra hits in Logic. Check out all the Apple Loops, and definitely browse through the EXS24 instruments and Channel strip setting presets. Cheers Rounik

THanks Rounik! I will be sure to check those out. Regarding the arpeggiator, is there a way to have the arpeggiator only apply to certain selected midi notes within a software instrument? (For example if I have a snare sound on C2 the arpeggiator only applies to it, and does not affect the other midi notes.)

Hi Rover2G, You could set the Key Limit from C2 to C2 in the environment inspector parameters for the arpeggiator. This way it will only affect the C2 note. Is that what you want ?
