    New Course: Web Audio Explored
Any musicians interested in coding will want to check out Gregg Fine's new course "Web Audio Explored", which explores using the JavaScript language to create and synthesize audio right in a web browser. Even those with little or no coding experience should have a look at this introductory course which shows step-by-step rudimentary coding with the Web Audio API. The course starts by explaining what the Web Audio API is and what can be done with it, how to access the dev tools in the browser of choice, and how to install the code editor -- the free open source Visual Studio Code editor. Gregg then goes over the three main technologies used in web development: HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Next the Web Audio API's AudioContext object is introduced, important web terminology is explained, and experiments with JavaScript code are covered. The course shows how to create an oscillator, connect it to a destination, and trigger it with a button, as well as how to tweak the code to adjust the volume, waveform, and frequency of the sound. Finally Gregg explains how to create a filter to manipulate the synthesizer sound and how to trigger the sound with a keyboard. Anyone with an interest in music and coding may want to dig into this course and start coding with the Web Audio API!
