Garage band hi hats

Pretty basic sequencing question here: Trying to get the sound of a hi hat being struck, then closing. Is this possible in GarageBand? I looked around on Google and YouTube and didn't find anything.

Piano roll triplets

I know on the piano roll that I can quantize to triplets, but is there a way to have the grid shown as triplets, also?

Bummer. I could swear that a much older version of GB had this feature. Eons ago when I sequenced with MasterTrax that had it. I do a lot of note-by-note sequencing and it's a lot easier if you're doing swing eighths. :(

I figured they did stuff like that to force you into paid software. Speaking of which, is this something logic pro has?

Input selection

When I start a new audio track it asks me which input (1 or two) I want to use, but how do I change it once it's made? Can't figure out how to get back to that window.

Can't drag regions to zero

Why is it that on some GB files I can't drag the regions to the very beginning of the grid? It seems like it only does it on files where I've recorded audio but maybe I'm hallucinating that. If the software is forcing me to have a pickup bar, that's fine, but I'd want to move the zero one measure to the right so I can keep track of what measure I'm really on.

Not sure what's wrong but when I try to to drag any region to the very beginning it jumps to the second measure when I let go of the mouse button. Not having a pickup bar is pretty lame. My days with GB may be numbered.

Destructive editing?
Jul 30th, 2021, 06:50
I like improvising and then cherry picking the stuff I like. Once I have it I really don't want to keep the garbage that's left over. Is there a way to permanently condense a bunch of fragments into its own region?

I meant the latter. I always avoid bouncing because I was told that there's a drop in sound quality. Is that true?
