Hi, In Logic 303, Steve showed us how to quantize drums by cutting everything up and realiging everything. However, now I would like to quantize acoustic guitar playing legato arpegios in steady 8th notes. Is this possible? There's no silence between each note. Thanks for your help! Andre F

Hi, I just got Logic 9, upgrading from Logic 7. I have Logic 101, 102, 103, 105, 201, 204, 205, 303 and 305 dating back from when Logic 7 was still the current version. I was wondering then, what would be the best way to upgrade my understanding along with new upgrade I got. Does buying the new Logic series make sense or only redundant? Hi, In his video, Flex Time Editing 104, in chapter 4, Steve explains how to quantize drums. I have some questions about that: 1-Shouldn't transiant markers be editied (on tracks that will be used as Quantizing reference) before Quantizing Drums? This step wasn't in chapter 4. 2-Is it possible to only use part of a track as quantizing reference? For instance, in the beginning, the drummer only plays the ride on quarter notes, however, he plays mostly on the Hi-Hats (instead of the ride) for the rest of the track. I would like to switch between the Hi-Hat and Ride as quantizing reference because I don't want the bleed to influence the quantizing when a part is not playing (a specific mic was used for a ride). Is this possible? 3-I'm a bit confused. The dark lines are Quantzing reference lines and the pale one are transiant markers? Or is it the other way around? 4-Are quantizing reference lines really always on transiant markers? Then what's the point of having several Q-reference tracks? If the Snare and Base drum fall on the same beat, but are only slightly off, which one will it choose? Thanks for your help Andre Favreau

I don't want to contradict you, Ô Teacher, but I tried deleting transient makers on part of the Ride or Hi-Hat tracks when they were not playing, and then select them as Q-reference tracks. It seems that Logic will then not place Quantizing markers on these portions of the track. I also think now that you can opt out of flex mode for some regions before selecting them as Q-reference tracks, and Logic will then not place quantizing markers for those regions. Steve, In your Logic 201 tutorial, when you play with the Quantizing Strenght for example, I can see the the MIDI notes in the Piano Roll jigger in real time, meaning that while you click-hold the mouse, the MIDI notes gradually move according to the strenght. I don't know why, but when I do it, the notes don't move until I release the mouse. It would be nice to see it move in real time so I can see how much change I'm applying to the events. Is there something I need to set up for that? Can you tell me how you do this? Thanks

When I record my virtual instruments, I want it to record and reflect exactly when I played. Since we know there is MIDI latency going IN to our plugins, should we do something to adjust that or should we leave it like that and is that possible in the environment? Basically, when we play our keyboards, should our MIDI recordings reflect when we press the keys or when we monitor the sound? When we play, are we more influence by what we play or by what we hear? Would it be the same for a MIDI drum? Does that depend on if you you put headphones or not, because playing on a Midi drum, you really feel and hear your stick hitting the pad. Any opinions or advice? Thanks Andre
