Hi all. I'm trying to assign transport controls from a VMK188 (Fatar) to logics transport. However, I can't work out the process, not least because i can't work out if there is an assignable midi control number for logics transport! Any ideas anyone? David T

Hi all. Interestingly, the play button assigns fine, but stop, record, rewind and foward wind wont assign. They don't show a midi command happening in the transport, and I can't find a way of assigning them Cc numbers on the keyboard itself. I may ring Fatar and ask them direct unless anyone here knows how i can do it. Any thoughts? David

Hi all. I am trying to sort out a puzzler for a student. I am trying to assign automation quick access for a hyperdraw element - notably Expression. I haven't really ever used much automation quick access although i understand the principle of clicking learn, moving the slider and then assigning the attribute in the list - However... How do you assign a parameter that isn't immediately visible? I have looked in the expert settings list and I can't see where you would assign Cc 11 (for example) as my target. My student wants to control the EXS 24 inbuilt strings with the mod wheel. Could you give me a walk through? Cheers! David

Steve. Thanks for the info.. However - despite being an experienced logic user, I haven't ever really used the routing section of the EXS24 - right back to the early days. I have tried to set the settings - feels like being a newbie after all these years, but I can't see how it's done in this case. I want to be able to use the mod wheel as a Cc 11 controller, so obviously I've got to convert the data or choose the right source and destination, but I'm just not getting my head around the routing. I'm uploading a skitch image - I'm being a bit dense... OK Steve, I get it to a point. However - there is a clear audible difference to my ears when I programme using CC7 and a relative CC11 for crescendos etc. I normally use VSL and use the expression control - but my students dont have that luxury. So... When using the route volume to CC1 method you describe, what am i routing..? Am i routing Cc7? If so, how do i get the mod wheel to control CC11 and not 7 or am i being too picky?? I have tried all kinds of "via" commands but it's not what i expect and i just don't think i have quite grasped it - Is there a tutorial anywhere that goes in more depth? Best David

That's really interesting Steve.. Last question on this topic: How do you use the "via" button? So if i set destination as "volume" and Cc1 as source - I see that "via" gives me a minimum and a maximum and that I can invert it - but i don't really get what the "via" does - can you explain - It's really great starting to understand this stuff! That's making my brain hurt! I understood the theory of what you said, but I haven't really ever seen it in practice... gotta admit. To your knowledge, are there any presets or available example .exs instruments anywhere that show this in action so i can get my head around it? Cheers David

Peter. I suspect you have chosen the instrument in question by clicking on a "channel strip setting" = the button at the top of each mixer channel - or from the library area of the media tab on the right side of the arrange window. (They are the same list really!) As for deleting or muting - if you open the piano roll, rather than clicking on every individual c1 for example, click on that note on the little piano to the left. Every note of that pitch will be selected. Then just click on any one of them with the mute tool. Should be easy to mute all of them with just a few clicks. in the future, to delete a range of notes - you need to "rubber band" around a whole selection by clicking and holding down the mouse, whilst dragging over the selection you want. Then press escape, choose the mute tool and click on the notes highlighted (or you can use the shortcut "m". Hope this helps... David T
