Well, I'm slowly figuring out through a process of elimination what the problem isn't.... I managed to get an upgrade for the Digi items, although even this isn't fully compatible with 10.5.6 (PT7.4.2 is apparently in the testing stages; only the new PT8 is fully approved for the newest Leopard, and it's not free). But it gives me signal in both ProTools and Logic, so that's a start. However, once I got that far, I realized that even with the M-Audio box and drivers eliminated, I'm still getting noise from the MBox. The only difference between my set-up before and the current one is the MBox is now directly connected to my Korg keyboard via 2 mono instrument cables. So it seems that there are two possibilities now: A) either the Korg is always noisy (ground problem?) or B) I'm using poor quality cables. Is SPDIF potentially a better connection?

Hi folks. I'm working on a sound design/fx project for a ProTools class I'm taking. I had hoped to use the fx that came with my Logic Pro/Soundtrack library, but PT doesn't like .caf files. Is there an easy way to convert a bunch to .wav files? I have a feeling ITunes might be able to handle it, but then I'd have a huge mess in ITunes to organize, and I'm lazy. Well, tonight I am. Would it work to import a pile into a Logic session and convert them in the Bin? Regardless, I'm probably looking at several hours of organizing the files afterward... Lazy, yup.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'm looking for a Mac converter, and I'm still using OS 10.6.8, so some of the apps won't work for me...

Hi folks. I have never used an external plug-in synth like Omnisphere in Logic 8 before. I'm reading through the manuals, but don't see anything yet that indicates how I actually instantiate it on an instrument channel. I'm fearful of having to delve into THE ENVIRONMENT, but if need be, I'll do it (with guidance, of course). Please help. I hate having a new toy with no way to play with it...

Well, it's a non-issue now. The answer popped into my head while at my regular Saturday night gig this evening. Funny how zoning out on a guitar for a few hours can clear the mind.... Got it up and running as soon as I got back on the computer.

Here's one for all you Logicians... I was building up a piece, with audio, instrument and aux tracks, loops for beats, some automation... All was going fine, when for no apparent reason, I stopped getting any sound. If I play this piece, the automation works (it's visibly moving), there aren't any soloed tracks, but it looks like none of my tracks are generating signal. The only one that seems able to is the click track; if I solo it, both it and the master track show signal (and I can hear it). I restarted the computer, opened other sessions without problem. It's only this one instrumental piece that's messed up. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Okay, so that didn't seem to work. I don't see the "direct link" thing anywhere. Okay, just watched one of their help videos, which specified things that aren't showing on the page I'm looking at. I'll try again, one at a time... When I us Add Image, I copy and paste the code they're provided, but it includes various "img" info at the beginning and end. No, there's nothing soloed. The only thing highlighted was an Input button on an audio channel. I checked the full-size images. Don't know why that photo is so small; I selected the full-size option. It's a mystery to me... Well, if you think of any other possible solutions, please keep in touch. I'm running off to work right now, but I'll check back tonight. thanks
