I am a long time professional protools user and I am getting in to Logic... I know how to do most everything in protools so I would like to know if Logic can do sub groups like protools. In Logic It seems that each track can only be in one group at a time???? I would like a group for drums and another group for drums bass and guitar at the same time??? thanks

Frank, I am a long time protools user and I am trying to get in to Logic. I have a digi HD192 and I am told this will work with logic... but when I try to record audio in to logic I get a hummm... not all the time but in a three min. recording it will hum for about 30 seconds. I can not change a thing ....... Open protools and get a perfectly clean recording! Will the 192 work? is there some setting I do not know about? YADJ thanks for your replay.....no i can not describe the set because i am not at my studio now.......but the way it is set up ......does work with protools......i have a session in the morning that i wanted to use logic........but the audio must work .....will the HD 192 work in the future????

maxwell again..... YADJ i really want to see logic work.....i have a very highend studio....i make a good living off protools....the audio is clean....what audio interface will work with logic....it must sound as good as protools thanks

Is there anyone that uses a Digi HD 192 with Logic. Do you turn off core audio? When core audio is off the software midi instruments are not there.... What is the best way to set it up. thanks

the class on the head/phone mix set is really good, but I do have some questions about the talk back set up? I guest it does does depend on your cue box??? the t/b cue is always going to outputs 1&2??? should I monitor in the control room through maybe outputs 5&6?? I have the Pre Sonus Monitor Station thanks for any direction I do really like and use all of your classes!!

Steve love your work!! I followed your mapped instruments to hyper set, but the drum names did not come over,.... only the note (C1 D1....) names??? Did I miss a step or has something changed from logic 7 to 9 I am an old time 24 track tape & protools (1991 sound tools) guy from way back. I still do use protools for some projects but every day I learn more about logic and use it for all by Movie and TV scores. On longer project it seems like logic does not like to import omf files? Have you ever seen that? I am even teaching logic at a local high school that has logic 8 on 32 macs!!! I am Mark Maxwell and own a lager studio in Athens Georgia. This is really cool! and it does work well! One question? Can the movements be written in automation? I do know how to automate audio and midi tracks but it seems that moving (controlling) the faders in the mixer from a fader object that I create in the environment is not seen by automation?? thanks and I love your videos!! mark maxwell athens georegia

Steve, I am working with a producer and he has sent me a work copy of a film that has a rate of FPS:7.45?? It does seem to sync up, but what's going on with that rate? That is not one of the options in Logic for frame rate? Right? It is a .m4v and like I said it is only a smaller size work file, not the real mov. Your tutorials are the best! thanks M

Hey guys thanks for all your help. I am working with several different producers and film makers all over the country and as you can imagine I do receive many different frame rates. My question yesterday was about a frame rate that I had never seen? FPS:7.45 and 5.33? I did speak with the producer in question and he shoots 1080P24, and his sequence in final cut is: XDCAMEX1080P24, before he sends me a clip to work on he does export it in final cut to the iphone conversion and that is where the strange FPS:7.45?????? comes from. The FPS, for the real .mov is 23.98. When I work on his projects they do seem to be in sync, but it was not until a watched Steve’s new video on film music and sound that I noticed this FPS??? problem. Well, what would you guys recommend me to do? Tell the producer to send me a bigger file with normal FPS? or just keep working with the files he send me and pretend that I don’t know any better?? thanks for all the great work you all do at macProVideo and I am always recommending your site! by the way,... here is the e-mail that the producer sent me to explain how he is getting those FSP: numbers. does this seem logical! Final Cut. Export / Quik Time Conversion / IPOD This is not the same thing as .mov file. The info file you sent me was of an m4v MPEG 4 file. Make sure that is clear. Apple does a trick with intraframe compression- which is assume is why the frame rate shows as 1/3 the rate yet looks in sync. It is in sync just less frames per second are used. They are blended to appear full frame. That is what MPEG compressions do.  The original is always 1080P24. That is what the camera shoots always.
