I'm a novice experimenting with Midi samples of acoustic guitar strums. I'm constructing a tune and would like to make a chord change in the arrangement. I figured it out in Garageband but now we're using Logic Express. Say I'm in the key of C and want to add an F and a G chord to my progression. How do I add those chords without changing the entire key of the piece. Thanks for the assist -

Goodmorning Rounik, Thanks for the reply but.... I'm not trying to change the key of the entire piece, I'm just trying to make a chord change in the guitar sample. I'm in the key of "C" and want to stay there. Say for example, after four bars I want the chord to change to an "F" and then to "G." I followed your instructions and see that I've changed the key of the piece but the original guitar sample is still on the tonic note ("C"). Maybe I should be looking in the MIDI editor. The guitar sample is MIDI. Again, my goal is not to change the key of the composition but to change the chord within the composition.

Hi Rounik, Upon review I discovered that my sample was not a midi sample but an audio sample... I didn't get a piano role I got a wave form. Sorry for the confusion... Changing a strum from an audio to a midi seems unlikely. Maybe I better pull out the acoustic guitar and do it the old fashion way... But I think you've explained the steps so I'll look for a midi guitar strum again and see if I can do the transposition in the piano roll.

Today I tried to bounce a composition to my ipod. I've done this many times. I Checked the 3 boxes on the left side of the window (PCM MP3 and M4A) also checked "Add to iTunes library." I had bounced an earlier mix to my ipod and had no problem. This time the file (roughly 7 MG's) crashed my ipod. I then went through several steps with my ipod and Logic Express trying to get the song to upload with no success. Each time, the file uploads onto itunes and I can play it but when I plug the ipod in it appears in the window but when played it crashes the ipod. I deleted the file on itunes and tried to bounce it again. Same result. The file appears on itunes but crashes the ipod. The ipod has plenty of storage space. I know this is probably an ipod problem rather than a problem with Logic Express but I wanted to know if anyone can suggest some trouble-shooting steps. One other thing I should mention is that I've also had to eject my ipod by trashing it because its stuck in Do Not disconnect mode. All my software is up to date but I am using Thanks, Jared

Hi Aaron, Thanks for the information. I'll try using .aif format as you suggested. I created a new composition and ran into the same problem again. Maybe I can figure things out when I get home. Its funny how I could bounce songs with little difficulty until these last two songs. JK

Hi All, This is a general housekeeping question. And I didn't see it addressed anywhere. I've bounced my composition several times as it has evolved and I just want to be rid of all those files. Do I just delete them from the bounce folder and start anew? I was worried that I might lose some critical component of my composition if I start deleting files. Thanks

Hi Christian, I'm sorry about the trajic fire. I have been the victim of an arsonist and know what it is to lose my things. The good news is you're OK and you will learn that even though you've lost many possessions you will acquire new ones and possessions are nothing compared to your life. Here's my problem... I want to send my whole project to a friend who is going to add some tracks. I was going to send it using an internet file sharing service called dropbox. When I tried to upload the original file (the .logic file) it was greyed out and I was unable to choose it. It was not over the size limit of the file sharing service. My friend suggested the steps using his Logic Studio know-how but they did not seem to be the same as the pull down menus in my Logic Express program. How do I send him my entire project across the internet? Thanks for any assistance, Jared

Thanks, I've started compressing the folder (its huge - 2.94 Gigs) My computer is suggesting that it will take an additional 7,000 hours to compress the folder. Is there a way to clear out the outtakes from my audio bin so that I just send the five tracks that this composition ended up being? Jared

Still having trouble but I think the problem is www.getdropbox.com and now I've made an effort to send the project via Pando. What intrigues me is the size of the project folder. It had grown to over 6.2 GB's. I play the guitar and harmonica so I was shocked to see how huge the file had grown. The actual composition comes in at 1.6 MGs and the who project comes in at 6.2 GB's. I can't believe how big the file is. I've deleted all the unused tracks and all the project file backups (except one). I'm going to start looking at some of my other projects and see if they are so large. JRod
