In the new tutorial "Sonic Dimension mixing" he uses an effect called "max bass" all the time to add the perfect amount of boom to his bass sounds, kick drum, and all low end sounds. but he is in pro tools...... anyone know what a good equivalent effect would be in Logic Pro?

I am having a tough time finding the right levels for my mic (Neumann TMS 102 through Apogee Duet into Logic) it isn't picking up my voice well, no dynamic. I feel like I am recording at such a low level to avoid peaking and can't go any higher but I am not able to get the depth of the real vocal....HELP!

@Rounik- So I make sure I was in 24-bit and i also enabled the independent monitoring while i was in the preferences and that as useful as well and i am now getting the sound i was looking for, thank you! I am still working with my record levels if you could give me some tips: In Mastero phantom is on and i am recording my normal singing at around 48, then my more intense singing i brought it down to 40 to avoid peaks. My line out level was kind of low though at -13. I am having a hard time balancing my mix sounds when i have a lot of piano and percussion then vox. My basic confusion is setting the line out level through mastero, setting the volume level in logic which should be what? and how do i know what i am hearing in my headphones isn't too loud or to soft and my mix level is where it should be as far as the master mix fader and logic's output volume? Thank you so much for your help, i didn't know people with real answers were out there! : ) I appreciate it so much, it is really pushing my progress along with the tutorials when i run into a problem. I have a Korg padKontrol (drum pad) but i can't get it recognized correctly in logic. i have a Korg Triton LE 88 key keyboard i run midi sometimes and that works perfectly and is recognized automatically. although the padkontrol is recognized as a midi device in logic i can't figure out how to configure it correctly so it is useful, even when i went through the help section in logic i didn't know what to do. (Also to note the padKontrol works fine in Reason) Thank you again for your time, Jamie K

Thank you for those great tips, I have the phantom and pop screen going, i think i must need to work on my mic technique, placement, and use of compression. Thanks for taking time for my question! New question : ) I have a Korg padKontrol (drum pad) but i can't get it recognized correctly in logic. i have a Korg Triton LE 88 key keyboard i run midi sometimes and that works perfectly and is recognized automatically. although the padkontrol is recognized as a midi device in logic i can't figure out how to configure it correctly so it is useful, even when i went through the help section in logic i didn't know what to do. (Also to note the padKontrol works fine in Reason) I connect it via USB as a midi control surface. Here is what just happened when I connected it with logic open via usb.Made a midi channel in record mode set to open library. Library opens and file folders pop up in Media>Library tab on Right Hand side. They are: "abelton live" (empty) "GM Device" (has 16 sounds in it) "Other objects" "padkontrol CTRL" which then has 16channels (i dont know what they mean) and "padkontrol midi out" (again with 16 channels i don't know what they mean) and "reason adapted" (empty) and the normal library sounds aren't an option either. i hear nothing when i record midi this way although it shows in the piano roll that there are notes being written. My confusion here is probably confusing you. if you could start at the beginning of how the heck to set up this control surface correctly or how to check and see how it is currently set up in logic that would be awesome. yeah.... you were right again thank you! It works great now. I just don't know how it assigns what sounds to what keys (since there are only 16 pads) does it just randomly choose in logic what sound goes to what pad for the midi instrument? when i assign my 88 keyboard to the same sounds how does it tell the difference between midi hardware? (just curious, but my main problem was solved thank you! i can write my own beats now! ) Jamie k
