I've been going through the ultrabeat tutorial and have been hung up on sidechaining. First, I have oscillator 1 on and side chain selected. Then I selected an audio track (8) I'd recorded a guitar part on in the side chain window in the upper right of ultrabeat. I then turned the track volume down on track8 and turned on the sequencer. When I hit play in Logic the only thing coming through was a sequenced beat. I didn't hear the guitar track coming through Ultrabeat. What am I missing?

Thanks, I've got it working now. It's pretty interesting although I'm finding it tricky to balance out the levels between the triggered note and the guitar. I can bring up the guitar and do some pretty cool things with it, but I'm not sure how to bring down or adjust the Ultrabeat voice.

That's great! I turned off oscillator 1 and got only the processed guitar. I'm playing around with envelope 4 and also with various parameters in the filter. I know I'll have to go back through the tutorials but, for now I just hit the number 4 in the blue box in the bottom right and I'm clicking on the A and D and Zoom and the mod slider and the various blue bubbles. I'm not sure I've found "release" yet. Anyway, any other suggestions? Thanks for all the help.

I've been working with Logic 8 for about a year and have created all kinds of music with just knowing the essentials, but I realize there is so much that Logic has to offer that I've never even explored. Since I became a beta subscriber I've been working everyday with the tutorials.

I've been working through all of those as a matter of fact and I've been creating a piece using only ES1, ES2, Sculpture, Ultrabeat and a few guitar tracks as a way of workshopping through the tutorials.

Well in my project I've got a couple of tracks with independent Ultrabeat modules. For some parts of the song I want to add a big reverb wash, or possibly a delay effect to the guitar that I've got side chained into Ultrabeat. Should I do this on a separate channel and should I consider having many UBs for situations like this. How many is too many? I don't see any plug-in type of effects in Ultrabeat, like delay or reverb. I know the tutorials say Sculpture is a bit of a CPU hog, what about ES1 and ES2?

I have two monitors and for my main screenset I've got the piano roll window on one and the arrange window on the other. On my current project I have to select a region in the arrange to view it in the piano roll. On other projects, for some reason all I have to do is select a track and as the music scrolls along from one region to the next the piano roll follows. How do I set it up so it always does this? Hi Rounik, It's been my experience in the past that clicking on the track header selects all regions in a track but for some reason that isn't true on this project. Also for some reason the catch playhead turns itself off in the arrange window all by itself. I have had the link button on also.

I did the install today of Logic 9. Before I installed I exported the key commands of Logic 8 and also copied the com.apple.logic.pro.plist and the com.apple.logic.pro.cs to a folder. Now that I've installed 9 and opened a project I was previously working on, my key command of " option 1" etc. for moving to the marker of choice doesn't work. I imported the key commands from the folder but it made no difference. When I hold option and hit 1 or any other number, Logic only reacts like it is a Screenset.
