Hi Steve,
Thanks for your detailed reply.
Let me apologise right up front for any harshness of tone in my first mail. If you see the kind of language used on many other forums, you'd know my post was quite "polite". Nonetheless, I concede that it may have been perceived as contra the rules of MacProVideo forums.
I'd like to respond to a few of your points, not to cause further confrontation, but rather in an attempt to clear things up. I have great respect for you as a trainer and perhaps this is why I was so critical at first.
Your words in bold:
No, I am not "avoiding" you. Why would you make that accusation?
Simply because you did not respond regarding the Expose shortcut issue. Anyway, we're past that now.
The commands I carefully chose for my zoom level tips are the same ones recommended by Apple in their official advanced training series books. Function keys 1-3 are perfect for this series of command because their numerals match the numerals of the zoom levels themselves.
I have no problem with that at all. However, your video grab of your System Prefs shows that you had F1-F3 configured for Expose - check it out.
Also, I might add, that the factory function keys for Expose are F10-12, not F1-3
Actually, F12 is the default for Dashboard. F9-F11 are the Expose shortcuts. But my original point still stands - your video shows that YOU had F1-F3 set for Expose (not F9-F11), hence you were required to disable them in order to use these keys in Logic. For anyone using the Apple defaults, this would not have been necessary.
In this wonderful forum, where all of us who dare to share our Logic TNT's must feel comfortable and safe, the tone has to be constructive. This is not a place for accusations and harsh criticisms. Civility is key for the free and unfettered transfer of information. Disagreements are welcome, and I might add, spark interest in serious and exciting discussion. But rather than attacking one another, it works much better to offer suggestions and alternatives.
I have already apologised above, and you and others will no doubt see from other posts that I have made at these forums that I have indeed offered advice and help and not only criticism. I still believe my input (as above) was valid, though perhaps not diplomatically expressed.
Sorry for any raised blood pressure.
Best regards - Colin
