Steve, your tutorial on MIDI Groove Templates was extremely helpful... do you know if there is any way to improve pitch recognition? I am trying to convert speech waveforms to MIDI and was hoping the "audio to score" would give more control. After using the "normal" setting, I would say only about half the notes are pitched, the rest are the default c3. Can you think of any tips to beat this problem, such as running the audio forms through pitch correction so they are more trackable as pitches? I have actually tried this idea without success. I just had the same problem, I'm trying to setup multiple mono outputs for a surround mix in order to EQ the LFE and I discovered that while you can create mono outputs in the environment, they don't have any inserts even when inserts are checked. If this is a new Logic 8 "feature," is there another way to control the individual outputs of a surround mix before they are sent to the Master control. The tutorial Logic for Video Editors explains how to create mono outputs for surround mixing but it seems only to apply to Logic 7.

I second the motion! I am sure there are significant improvements in Logic 8 for video, including 23.98 fps for those who are working with 24p cameras.

I am planning a large scale music video project that will have several sections. I will create a unique sequence for each section but want to keep all of the sequences in one project folder so that all of the related files (aif, samples, etc.) are in one place. Is the best solution to place all of the Logic files in one project folder? Any other workflow suggestions?

I hadn't thought about the problem of one video per project, which is an issue because each musical sequence would be tied to its own video material. I am wondering if it is then possible to keep each sequence in its own project, but somehow share audio files (which take up the most hard disk space) so they don't have to be duplicated across multiple projects. In other words, a sort of uber-project folder that contains several sub projects all of which share audio material. Is this possible?

You need to convert your video to mpeg-2 and then combine it with the ac3 file in DVD Studio Pro to integrate the two as a DVD video.

Is anyone using the Vienna Symphonic Library with Logic 8? I have been reading about various issues on their Web site regarding the use of the VSL AU instrument vs. loading the samples in the Logic EXS-24. I would appreciate any insights. Thanks.

Thanks Rino... that's what the VSL support told me as well. I am curious which method gives you more versatility, the EXS-24 Performance Tool or the VSL AU instrument, that is if the Performance Tool becomes operable again in Logic 8.

I would also like to see more information on file management in Logic for large projects. If you want to create a series of sketches that all use the same audio samples, what is the ideal way of managing multiple sequence files without duplicating the entire project?
