ok I have a finished mix file on my Desktop. But I mixed with all the master fx off because everyone said to turn them off for mixing....then I am supposed to create anew proj. which I did..but when I open the mix file in the new project it is in the pre mix form..all the trcks instead of just 2 stereo tracks...The master is supposed to be just 2 tracks.. what is the problem??

I made a few masters....GB comes with those 3-4 fx for mastering... I just left them alone.....but maybe I shouldnt use them all.... would you use all the stock ones?? which one/s would you do without for instrumental stuff?? It would be nice if there was a vst that merged into GB and kind of guided you on the master..checking levels for you and giving suggestions.... My finished stuff is ok....I learned a fair bit about the whole process..I put my song on the web for sale, it came out sounding pretty good and sort of cinematic sort of like Mark Isham style. I always liked his stuff.... mostly I hope the song connects me to other people who like the fusion kind of stuff I like and could maybe guide me in the next level of learning. I like the old ECM stuff from the 70s and jazz fusion too.Nothing like todays pathetic chimpanzee mind numbing crap. I am embarrassed to see the dumbing down of todays youth and what they consider artistic. Must have been too much junkfood and industrial chemicals in the air since the 80s..Anyway I got Cubase free with my interface so I think I will put my learning energy into that platform. Its complex but interesting. But I will need a guide for that. But GB was a good place to start.Thanks for all the help.

I've been watching Jeff Gibbons videos on Cube and they are very good. One thing I need to get clear on is send fx which he addresses on one video. He was trying to show how sends are different from regular fx like distortion on a guitar track.... he seemed to say that the send fx was used to color a PART of one track, maybe a few seconds of a track as opposed to a regular fx that colors the track for the whole length of a song...? but I didnt see him saving based on what time the send was in effect....have I got this right??

You might be a good person to inquire of this...I have been recording video on the screen with QT and it works ok with the onboard audio etc. But if you record thru the USB interface you get high res audio if its available on that video. At least CD quality. That helps because when you are learning about the DAW in the video you get to hear some of the real sounds and some of them are Very good. Some videos have nothing special but its still nice to have the instructor sound good. So there is a choice in QT to record using your interface via a menu before you hit record. And you can hear the recording with your headphones while it is recording. BUT....after it is done and saved there is NO audio. Not thru the interface OR thru the onboard speakers. These are videos on various tasks in Cubase which is proving to be interesting and much better than GB. What do you know about this missing audio? Thanks

Can I load Crystal into 10.5 AI? Its Green Oak software...I dont know if its updated. I use Catalina. Are there any other free synths to get? I have Helm.

I have watched a lot of videos on editing guitar.... making 2 cuts and moving the chunk over slightly and doing a crossfade. But no one has made it clear in the videos what tool they were using to cut....??? In Cube do you just place the cursor and left clik or do you have to get a certain tool?

cubase will not do any crossfades for me... I overlap and hit X but all I get is the stiches up and down but no crossfade and the crossfade option is greyed out on the menu.I have tried all the tools,split,select and made sure there is an overlap.. I tried both auto cross and not auto checked. I have it on equal power setting... it wont do it...?

I found that it wont cf unless you are in the edit screen. I was playing with it in the main track view. Whats strange is that you can cut and split and select etc in the main screen,no?? And you can save the changes from the track menu,no? Cf is a very commonly used feature and I think Cube would do well(and other DAWs) to streamline it better. Honestly it should have popped up a box right away that said you need to go the edit screen. And there could be a slicker easier way to draw the cf region. Maybe a dedicated tool just for cf.

if you want to paste piano chords onto a new track do you select instrument track or midi track?? then you copy or drag the chords from the pad screen onto the track..?

When I start Cube I get the pop up "Retrologue license expired .... like that..but I am running elements 10.5 ok... is there a quick fix for that.../? Catalina Macbook
