Shaun, I think youâ??ve already found what your looking forâ?¦
â?? Is that online?â?? Not the courses, but fullsail.com has online courses, and they have a good rep, but too expensive for me right now. â?? Do you have a link?â?? Yes Duke Center for Documentary studies is at cds.aas.duke.edu.
â??I'd love to find something online that discusses principles of creating soundtracks from a musicality perspective.â??
Looks like you found it. â??Martinâ?? who posted above you literally wrote the books Apple pro training Soundtrack Pro 2, and Logic Pro 7. Check out the free sample tutorials on Soundtrack Pro 2 on this website. â??yippppieeeeehhh !!!â?? â?? Heimi.
I got the book he wrote finished (this month?) about Soundtrack Pro 2 for Appleâ??s Pro certification course a few days ago. I ordered it thinking I'd study it until the Pro training book on 8 came out.
Now I think Iâ??m going to stick with just studying Logic and a â??â?¦detailed exploration of soundâ??. At least for a while, or until I need to do some soundtrack work for a video.
One of the apple stores in my area (Durham/Raleigh) has an occasional workshop on Soundtrack Pro for free, and a monthly workshop on Logic Pro. I would guess some in your area does as well. It may be worth the trip for networking alone.
I am at work until 7am, so I havenâ??t been able to check out the 1st part of the Logic 8 101 tutorial but am excited. Martin sent an e-mail saying. â??This is a detailed exploration of sound.â?? and
â??Chapter 1 begins the exploration of Logic while examining how audio works, starting with the most basic waveform, a sine wave! Through the chapter, you will look closely at how amplitude and frequency combine to make sound. We even jump into Soundtrack Pro for a bit to do some deep analysis of frequency (hey, it's Logic Studio now, so why not?!).
As the chapters continue, there will be increasingly advanced topics covered, and by the end of this tutorial, you'll know how to think like Logic. You'll also learn a lot about audio and how sounds combine to make songs. IMHO, this is going to be REALLY fun adventure ...
I'm EXTREMELY curious to know what you think about this tutorial. Please let me know by either posting a review, or visiting the forum:

Wow! My dad was a mad musical scientist, so I grew up around the math of sound, and miss it, now that he is passed. I was never good at it, but understood it a little. Iâ??m as interested in â??exploration of soundâ?? as I am in Logic Pro. Iâ??m impressed the author reads these message boards now and then.
