What happened to Thomas Goss' rest of Sibelius courses? I remember reading more interesting titles announced when this series was started. I enjoyed his training very much. And I have been patiently waiting for MIDI class and scoring class, only found out today that these tutorials are no longer listed. I also want to see his orchestration class realized.

I got some Standard MIDI note entry job for ringtones and karaoke machine. Now the drum parts are given with note numbers. For example, the Kick is 36. Is there a way to display the MIDI note numbers instead of Note names (like C1, D1, etc.) in Piano Roll or/and Event List? If not, what is the quickest way to translate note number into note name? Also, I need to input gate time for each articulation. So the regular note is about 80% of full length while staccato is 50% and slurred notes (except the last one) are 100%. I am thinking that I enter the all the notes with full length first. Then select all the staccato notes and scale them using Transform. Then do the same with regular notes. Is this the recommended way? Is that possible to display the gate scale within Event List? Sorry if my writing is not clear for English is not my first (or second) language. Thank you very much. P.S. I love all the Logic and other tutorials. Most gigs I do is orchestration/ orchestra mockups. I am very interested in orchestra mockup tutorial like how to make each instrument more realistic and how to mix and master tracks. MPV's mixing and mastering videos are wonderful but these are for R&B and House tracks. I wonder doing orchestra digitally might require different consideration...

I have one more question. When I enter a note using Step Input Keyboard, each time three notes (with same pitch, same duration and same velocity but different MIDI channels) are created, and I don't know why this happens. I can see the three notes in my Event List, and I can move one of three independently. Also I noticed that when I enter note using Step Input Keyboard, the note length is slightly shorter than full length. For example, an 8th note is 475 ticks, not full 480 ticks. Is that possible to change the preference so that I can get 480 ticks for an 8th note? I am using Logic 9.1 (32bit). Thanks.

Hi Rounik, Thank you so much!!!! The Mapped Instrument solution works perfectly- more beautifully than I expected. When I looked at my Event List after entering a couple of notes into Piano Roll, I was so excited. Many many thanks.

Also when I step input using external MIDI keyboard controller, Logic uses the pitch and velocity from external controller and use note length information of step input keyboard window. Now I would love to input the pitch using external keyboard because it's faster for complicated chords but I want to use velocity and note length information of step input keyboard window - because for this job, I need to input fixed velocity for each dynamic marking like mf or pp. Of course I can use Transform or Velocity tool (w/ shift+option) to fix but less work is better... Are there any way to ignore velocity data from external keyboard when step input? I am using Logic 9.1 (32bit). Thanks a lot.

Thank you so much for your time, effort & creativity Rounik!! It not only works greatly but also looks so nice! This velocity fixer will be a permanent part of all of project templates. A few years ago, I was horrified to hear somebody mentioning "Environment". Thanks to MPV, especially Steve H's TNTs, I fell in love with Environment and my templates now contain many cool tools. I am not yet an advanced Environment designer like you, and therefore I want to learn more! I come to understand many of usual suspects but there are so many more objects I have no idea what to do, when and how to use. I really want Advanced Environment tutorials. Also organization tips, like the way you designed this one so cleanly, would be very helpful too. For getting the full note length, I then found "Quantize Note Length" from Transform works perfectly when I have not only 8th notes but also quarter notes and half notes, etc. Thank you very much. -A big fan from Japan

Hi. I will be helping computer lab at music school. I will need to reset Logic to factory setting every time somebody uses it. I found "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" "com.apple.logic.pro.LSSharedFileList.plist" & "com.apple.logic.pro.plist" inside Preferences folder within my home folder. Deleting those three files will do the job? If you know a safe & easy way to reset Logic to factory setting, please let me know. Thank you. Penguin

Hi Rounik, April's TNT3 is amazing! Thank you for the great inspiration. Now I need to think for a while about what I learned and put thought into how I can apply to my workflow. Any Environment tip is always welcome because there are still some objects I am not familiar with. By the way, your channel strip's first send shows "reverb," not "Bus 1" which is very helpful. But I couldn't figure out how to do. Even I name my Aux tracks as I always do, mine still shows "Bus 1." Could you tell me how to do this? Thanks. Penguin

Wow! I can name each bus and other tracks? And these names are global? This is fantastic! I have a strict bus system. I always use bus 1-10 for various reverb settings (like close, middle, far orchestral verb and vocal verb, etc.) and other effects, 20-40 for stems, and 41- for parallel compression and so on, so labeling these buses permanently saves enormously.
