Hi, I'm a newcomer to Logic. Things went okay at first, but now it's a nightmare. 1) Recording with MIDI into INSTRUMENT tracks isn't working. Although I assign each new MIDI patch as a new instrument, subsequent patches become the default patch, assuming I'm still using the same virtual instrument (Vienna Symphonic Library). Absolutely impossible to proceed this way. I've posted this problem in another forum and the response was "read the getting started manual." I have done that and followed the advice implicitly, and still new created INSTRUMENT tracks often have shifting patches, making it impossible to proceed. 2) Trying to load in a percussion preset, I got this rapid crackling. At first, I could reboot and get rid of this annoyance, but now it seems here to stay. Everytime I turn on this song in Logic, the crackling comes with it. 3) Now as soon as the cursor hits recorded MIDI material, it stops and a dialog window says that the coreaudio could not process the date in time. Well, why not?? This song has a measly 12 imported audio files and maybe 4 MIDI tracks. And I have a MacBookPro with 2 GB Ram. Isn't that enough for what I'm trying to do? I increased the buffer size to the figure in the 500's. Makes no difference. Crackling and coreaudio overload are what I get. I'm beginning to think that the considerable amount of money and time I've invested in this new system was for naught. Give me my old Tascam Syncassette. It actually worked. And if you had a problem, you could call for support. Anyone try calling Apple? Or Vienna Symphonic Library? They don't even have a phone number. Sorry to carp on this. I'd like to be working on my stuff, not mired in mangled MIDI and coreaudio overload. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
