Steve, I've watched EVERY single one of your tutorials (except TNT2) and they are truly phenomenal. Thank you!! I just got done watching TNT1 #70-73 about continuos controllers. I am just confused as to what one would use these types of templates for? Is it for the sole purpose of modulating EXS regions? Does it go beyond that? Do they do things that normal automation can't do? Thanks!

Rounik, I've spoken with you before about performing live with Mainstage vs Logic. I've been using Mainstage for a few months now and I want to try my hand at using Logic now. My question is: what is the basic approach? I don't want to mess around in the environment too much. I just want to be able to sing through input 1 (on every song), play guitar through input 2 (sometimes) and be able to play midi tracks and manipulate audio via plug in modulation. Would I just play my sequencer/arrangement with my audio input tracks record enabled and just switch through midi tracks when I want to play and manipulate them? Any help is MUCH appreciated MPV rocks!!!!!

Let me just ask you, do you REALLY like performing using Logic? Do you think it is ideal for someone who knows what they are doing? Here's what I would like to be able to do well (tell me if you think it's manageable). 1) have an input open for Guitar and vocals 2) be playing an instrument on my keyboard at any given time 3) trigger all my backing tracks (generally) with touch tracks 4) use knobs to tweak whatever touch track I think would be cool at any given time. All of these things will have to be available to me simultaneously usually. Most of my performance will be centered heavily on my vocals so I'm not really trying to be a techno hero on stage. I just want things to sound really cool and to be taking part in what's going on (triggering touch tracks, tweaking a little and playing insturments as I sing). Would Logic be a good route to take? I've been using Ableton Live for performance though I primarily produce in Logic. It all seems to be going fine, however I want to still use Logic's guitar amp simulators for when I play guitar in my performances. Is it possible to lock Live's and Logic's midi clocks together so that this could work? Also, is there any way to possibely route the audio of on DAW to the other using something like soundflower? Rounik... you have to have some ideas about this with all your logic know how ;) Thanks for any help!

Cool, I'm familiar with ReWire but haven't done it yet with Ableton. My only concern would be the amount of control I had over Ableton when I'm performing if it is SLAVED to Logic. I want to do EVERYTHING via my APC 40 and Ableton. Will I still have FULL control over Live in ReWire mode if it is a slave? I would only be using Logic to run my guitars through and maybe my vocals and some ES2, Scultpure patches here and there. Granted, I know that I won't be able to use any of Live's looping or effects features on the sounds I'm creating through Logic (because Live is the slave--I can deal with that). I just need to maintane full versatile control over Ableton when it's a slave. Is it possible? Thanks for the time Rounik!

I've never understood the principle behind controlling the dynamics of submixes and busses. I always stay away from bussing because I'm confused. Let's say I have 3 channels that don't clip, I then buss them to a common channel-- now they clip. Do i have to put a limiter on every buss or submix I make? Won't things get dynamically squashed by the time they get to the master strip (which also has a limiter on it)? Currently, I'm wanting to combine 30 audio files into one new file which will be them put into a project. The project itself will have a limiter/compressor on the master strip. What should I know and do to feel comfortable creating submixes? Help! It doesn't make sense to me. Thanks!

I actually own Steve's mastering tutorial. I'll have to review it. You say that there's no reason why I can't lower the levels of the 3 channels. But I don't understand how that won't affect the balance of the mix... If I have 3 tracks that all have perfect volume levels and sound great in the OVERALL MIX, how is it possible to then buss their OUTPUTS (not sends) to a new buss then LOWER their levels respectively (so that the buss doesn't clip)? Won't that lower their individual levels in the overall mix, therefore affect how my overall mix sounds? Thanks for your help. This has always been a conundrum for me!

Rounik, you are a true wizard! Okay, I'm actually working with 4 channels now and I'm following your instructions. 1) I've soloed all 4 channels 2) Output 1-2 meter clips at 2.8db (because I've taken off the Master limiter). 3) Now I'm bussing the 4 channels' outputs to Bus 1. 4) Bus 1's Aux strip clips at 2.8db as well. You are right. My question still remains though about the submix itself if I am to BOUNCE the submix to it's own audio file. Let's say I want to combine all 4 of these tracks (which are being routed to Bus 1) into one new audio file. I want to use the new audio file in my project instead of the 4 individual tracks. Since the Aux strip is clipping at 2.8 db won't it be bad for me to create a new audio file from that? Won't I have to attenuate one or more of the 4 channels' faders in order to make an audio file that doesn't clip? Won't that affect the original balance of levels that I had when all 4 tracks where on seperate channels? Thanks for your help Rounik! I hope I'm not asking too much of you.
