The create multiple aux is only available under DAE. It is grey out when using Core audio.

As Martin said, you usually don't want to record a virtual instrument as an audio track. If you have many virtual instruments tracks you need to bounce to audio, don't forget to use : File/Export/All Tracks as audio files... it will save you time if you need to bounce a lot of tracks!

You can alos use this trick if you really want to record a virtual instrument live on an audio track. You need to have software monitoring turn on for this to work. 1-)Insert a noise gate on an input channel. 2-Click Monitor to turn it on on the Noise gate. Set the side-chain to bus 1. 3-Insert you Virtual Instrument on an instrument track. Send the Output to Bus 1. 4-Set the audio track to the right input(the one with noise gate on) . 5-Record enable both the instrument and the audio track. Voila! Logic will record the instrument live.

With Logic 8 it is very easy to record a software instrument to an audio track : 1-Insert a soft inst on a track and send its ouput to a bus. 2-Select the bus in the input of an audio track. 3-Make sure Record is enable on the audio track and select the inst track. 4-Hit Record and play the inst... it will be recorded as an audio file. Very nice!

Hi and welcome to the forums. If you have a signal when toggling selecting "input 2" as the channel setting, then your setup should be right. When selecting "Track 2" as the channel track setting, you are doing the right thing. However, you won't get a signal until you "record enable" the track by clicking the little "R" at the left of the track list in the arrange window or the "REC" button in the channel strip. I just want to make sure you did this basic step before continue troubleshooting.

Unfortunately, the crossfade tool does'nt work with appleloops. You can use automation instead. If you really want to use the crossfade tool, you will need to bounce the file(File/Bounce...) to Aiff or Wave. Make sure the "Add to Audio window" is selected. Import the new file from the Audio window to the arrangement. However, the new file won't be an appleloop... so make sure you have the right tempo before doing the bounce.
