Hi Rounik, Thanks for the rapid response and advice. I do recall that logic records dry regardless of the effects plugins, thanks to the Logic Pro 101 tutorial video, however I noticed that when recording with vocal plugins such as compression the level meter peaks quite easily. Prior to adding the effect to the channel I set the recording input level on the interface so that it sits at about -6db on the meter as instructed in the logic 101 tutorial, but once I insert the vocal effects it tends to peak on the logic meter. At this point do I turn down the channel gain on the interface to compensate or leave that as I had it and just turn down the fader in logic? What I would like to know is does the dry recorded signal get affected by the peak caused by the insert effects and what is the best way to handle this? Thanks.

Should I use the prefader metering button to check the level of the incoming vocals as I adjust the gain on the interface to get the levels set for optimum recording. And then turn off the prefader metering button, apply the channel insert effects and adjust the fader on the channel? Thanks.

Thanks for the info Christian, it is much appreciated. One other question, if I dither the 24bit to 16bit say using POW-r-#1 and want to hear what dithering with POW-r#3 sounds like, is it Ok to dither the 24 bit recording more than once and save them as seperate files?

Hey guys I need your help. Last night I was mixing a live recording I did of our band over the weekend. Here's what I did with the recording. First I cut each song out of the full live recording and made a new file for each song so that I could mix the songs independently. I put some plugins on each track, mixed some of the songs, saved them, and listened to them last night. All was well except for a few "logic crashes" , nonetheless the songs played fine. I ended up trashing the "crashed" files. This morning I try to play the songs and no sound. The main thing I notice is that all of the plugins have a slash thru them. I even checked an older recording we did and the plugins on that recording have slashes thru them as well. Did trashing the crashed files have something to do with this? I need your help to get things back to normal. Thanks.

In addition, when I try to change the I/O Buffer size or any of the preferences in the core audio I get the following error message. Error code -2 was returned by the Audio driver. If anyone can help me in rectifying this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I did an update on my presonus firestudio software/ firmware and this seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks.
