    Video editing on older machine
I have an old G4 dual 450 that I would like to do some video editing on. I'm not really expecting 'too' much from this machine, but I want as many features in the application as possible, so I'd rather use Pro than Express. In your opinion, would this machine be capable? - Maybe with an older version? Maestro_T

Maestro these are the basic requirements to run final cut studio 2 (including final cut pro 6.0)on your computer. even if you get it run rendering processes could be trouble, i would recommend you got to these address : http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs.html and compare your computer with specification. good luck A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor 1GB of RAM An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors) A display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later QuickTime 7.1.6 or later A DVD drive for installation

xredflagx, I pretty much expected that this machine really wouldn't be up to the job. Do you - or anyone else here - know what applications were used when this spec of machine was popular - (Dual G4 450)? As I asked previously, maybe an older version? Not expecting lightning fast renders. :-) Just reliable one with good results. I'm sure someone was doing some video editing on them at that time. Thanks again, Maestro_T

This is what I mean. From an old forum: http://forums.dvdoctor.net/archive/index.php/t-27138.html "FCP works very well with only 128mb RAM on a G3/300." I've got 1.5GB RAM on a Dual G4/450. Does anyone know what version this would have been? I could then have a look on Ebay and see if someone is selling theirs. Maestro_T

Right, After much research, I have found that if I want to use FCP with this machine, I would need to use version 3: System Requirements OS Required Apple MacOS 9.2.2, Apple MacOS X 10.1.1 Min Processor Type PowerPC G3 - 300 MHz Min RAM Size 256 MB Min Hard Drive Space 40 MB Peripheral / Interface Devices CD-ROM or 4: System Requirements Min Hard Drive Space: 1 GB Min Processor Type: PowerPC G4 - 350 MHz Min RAM Size: 384 MB OS Required: Apple MacOS X 10.2.5 Peripheral / Interface Devices: AGP graphics card or 'possibly'5. Does anyone here have one of these that they might want to part with? If so, how much would you want for it. You can PM if you would like to discuss it. I'll go and have a look on Ebay in the meantime, although, I don't really trust Ebay. :-(

    final cut v.3
hi Maestro_T i was going to recommend the older versions, but i guess there is no point of pointing the obvious :). i don't know what is the price for that version on ebay, but check this one out : http://denver.kijiji.com/c-For-sale-Computer-software-Final-Cut-Pro-3-Professional-Video-Editing-W0QQAdIdZ35176925 it might be sold but i'm not sure and in the other hand he is asking for $400 or best offer, i don't know where are you from but in toronto final cut studio 2 costs around $900 so if i were you i would spend that money on new computer get your-self imac intel core2 "for example this guy asks for $800 for Intel iMac 20" 2.0Ghz Core Duo. " upgrade your ram and try to get used final cut studio 2 i'm sure you thought about this, but it's all about how serious you wanna get i guess. take care man.

In my opinion, picsart is the best editing application which is light weight can can easily be run on any device.

However, You can have other options too, you can use kinemaster for editing as well. There are plenty of other applications like Inshot this is the one which I use for my YouTube Video editing.

If you can find an old version of Final Cut 5 (or 6 or 7) on eBay somewhere, maybe. You'll want a minimum of 16GB RAM if not more, and a super fast secondary drive for your projects to live on (don't put them on the system drive on a system that old). You won't edit anything larger than 1080HD, and that will be a struggle with multicam edits.
