hand writing in Motion
Hallo everybody, I'm searching the way to make some titles as they were hand writing. they must be written on the screen from first letter to last in a continue way. hard to explain but you maybe got the idea... Is this possible using Motion? how? do I have to write like drawing? (my hand writing is not a good deal!) I'm posting this on FCP as I can't find Motion as topic, please excuse me if I'm wrong. Thanks! Valentina

Hi Valentina, Sure... this forum is fine for any Motion questions too :) I know exactly what you mean. In fact, Richard Lainhart has just finished a Blog Tutorial on how to create this "handwriting" effect in After Effects. May be published within a couple of weeks. Do you use After Effects? As far as Motion you could the type on parameter in the format section of the Text tab in the inspector. This should fade the letters in one by one. However, animating the drawing of handwriting is a bit trickier. I think you'll need to use masks and bezier paths. There's also a write on shape behavior I believe that you can use with a paint stroke - but not text... Do you use a wacom tablet by the way? Thanks Rounik

Hi Valentina, Well... I think After Effects will be good to use for this technique. We'll publish the tutorial article soon and I'll post a link to it. In the meantime, there's some great After Effects video tutorials here at MPV and of course lots of articles on the Blog: http://www.macprovideo.com/blog/ A wacom tablet is an input device designed for artists to draw/paint, e.g.: http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=0&lang=en Hope that helps Rounik
