FCPX
Hi Rounik. I was very interested in the news about your new FCPX tutorials and I was looking forward to buying the new software. However, the early reviews are anything but encourging. Apple's App Store is carrying the most scathing reviews of the update. Would it be possible for MacProVideo to offer us a considered view, expecially as your FCPX tutor has such vast experience of Final Cut Pro in all its incarnations. I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by all concerned. Kind regards, Norman

Hi Norman, Excuse the late reply! Are you staying in touch with the MPV Hub? Easiest way to check it out is to visit this page daily: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/ You can be interested in checking out the First Look review of FCP X: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/final-cut/first-look-review-final-cut-pro-x--top-interface-features First Look Review of Motion 5: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/final-cut/first-look-review-apple-motion-5-top-new-features and the new tutorials: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/mpv-news/final-cut-pro-x-tutorials-are-now-available as the first 45 minute/1 hour Overview tutorial is FREE! Also... This is one reason why I've not been on the forums the past few days... doing lots of research and interviewing Michael Wohl... we discussed many really interesting aspects of the old and new FCP... It's a shame that all of our 1 hour conversation couldn't be included in full, but you'll find the most salient and interesting aspects in the interview article... being published on The Hub early morning PST today! In the meantime, my feeling is that many Pro users are disappointed due to certain pro features missing. some will be added as FCP X matures... others will not - and perhaps this is because Apple are interested in paving the way for a new market ... pro-sumer market in the video world... But it is still a great piece of software... and for the price - amazing value! :)

Hi Rounik, Many thanks for your reply. My own particular spin on the initial reaction to Final Cut Pro X is that it is far too soon for the so-called "professionals" to give vent to their spleen. If Apple is indeed redirecting their focus on their target audience, and given the fact that they have produced a completely rewritten application, perhaps it was a mistake to call it Final Cut Pro X. It is difficult to reconcile the initial rapturous response given to the software to the bile which is being spewed out on the App Store. No one could possibly have a mature judgement at this stage. As of old, Apple may well have the last laugh as this application matures. I for one will be investing in order to get up to speed and I have every confidence that Apple will provide all the "bells and whistles" necessary to complete a truly pro app. Kind regards to the team. Norman

Hi Norman, I agree with pretty much everything you've said! There's been far too many people venting their spleen about FCP X after 2 minutes of playing around with it... Sure there are some big issues... but we need to sit back, think and watch the story unfold before jumping the gun. There are some excellent new features in FCP X - and I talk about them in my FCP X Review on The Hub - but also some features I will really, really miss. e.g. an Audio Mixer. Anyways, check out the Interview and review with Michael Wohl live on the Hub now: http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/interview/exclusive-interview-michael-wohl-one-of-fcps-original-designers-speaks-about-final-cut-pro-x Best R
