Transcoding and Analysis Taking Long Time
I'm running FCPX and I imported new video to local drive. I have created a new project for the video, but it's been a day and a half since I've imported and the transcoding and analysis is only at 62% overall. FCPX is using just over 1GB of RAM and system has 1.33GB free. Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 500GB SATA hard drive.

Hi Michael, I haven't tested FCP X on Lion - so I have no idea whether they play well together or not... What file type/footage type are you importing? Something seems wrong(!) What were your experiences importing into FCP X on Snow Leopard? Thanks Rounik

Yes, depending on the system (laptops slower than desktops) which is CPU + GPU, and the codec being transcoded from, it can take time. RAM has nothing to do with transcoding speed. As asked already, what codec is the original, what duration is all of that footage, and what Mac model are you on?
