fcp x to soften edges in pip
Thank You for the suggestion of the romantic and the crop and feather effects, however these did not give me the result that I was looking for. Imagine a full screen video image and within that image, another smaller, different image . I want to eliminate the hard edge of the smaller inset image and soften it, so there is not a defined line around the smaller image.

Hi mich, Sounds like this would be easier to do in Motion 5. Alternatively, you can create a new project with the PiP footage at full screen, apply the romantic, etc effects and then export the footage. Bring it into the new project and use as a PiP...

Easy. Open the smaller clip on the track above, in the Viewer, in the Motion tab, in the Crop section, you can feather the edges without actually cropping it.
