Are you using File > Import > iMovie Event and then iMovie Project? Are you Importing both? iPhoto has nothing to do with iMovie, so I'm not sure what the connection is there. Are you importing iPhoto pictures inside of iMovie, then going to FCP X? That shouldn't be an issue. I'm not clear exactly what the issue is. Are you unable to import your iPhoto pictures into FCP X? Are you using the photo browser to do it?

Be sure you're running the latest version of iMovie and FCP X. I've never been a fan of taking iMovie projects into FCP X. You may just want to start it over in FCP X, or finish it in iMovie. But, this specific issue I've never seen before. I'm unable to replicate it. So let's start by verifying the versions of each app.

I'd export the photos from iPhoto into the Finder, then re-import into FCP X from there.
