Clip dates on importing miniDVD from Sony Handycam in iMovie
I am trying to import movies I have recorded on my Sony Handycam DCR DVD405 camcorder into iMovie '08 (7.1.4) on my Intel iMac running Leopard 10.5.4. The camera gets recognized and clips show in the capture window and I am able to import all or manually import certain clips. No problem there. The problem is that the dates on the clips are all incorrect. They always start on a certain time (approximately, but not the same as, the "first recording date" of the DVD) and subsequent clips, irrespective of their lengths, start 1 second later. So for example I select clip #4 and #6 to be imported, the #4 gets timestamp of June 16, 2008 6:43:22pm and it is of 1 minute length. Then, clip #6 gets timestamp of June 16, 2008 6:43:23pm. And the fact is that in the above example, #4 should have had 5:35pm and #6 should have had June 17, 2008 10:52am! Any clues?

Hi, It looks like a little bug in the current version of iMovie 08. Do you have more than 256 clips in your camera ? I looked on the Apple discussion board and I found these threads : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1338593 http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7718929&#7718929 Hopefully Apple will fix this in a future update...
