The word animation literally means: the state of being alive. In this essential course by Siobhan Twomey, you learn the art and craft of infusing your animated objects with the illusion of aliveness. So... let there be life!
Siobhan is a filmmaker, animator and storyboard artist. When she isn't busy with her professional projects she generously shares her knowledge through her many educational activities. We welcome Siobhan to our family of trainers!
Animations become real, emotive and totally engaging when you learn the core "life" concepts so elegantly explained in this 22-tutorial course by Siobhan Twomey. And when you incorporate these real-world, physical properties like time, space, inertia and mass, into your projects they will absolutely enhance the verisimilitude (likeness to the truth) of any kind of animation you work on.
Using simple line drawings, Siobhan demonstrates these concepts, one by one, explaining their underlying theory. Then you will see how to draw, move and arrange objects depending upon their size, weight and other physical properties. When you complete this course, you will have a solid foundation in these core concepts enabling you to apply them, as you see fit, to your animation projects.
Whether you're creating 2D, 3D, stop-action or motion graphics, this course gives you the tools and inspiration to infuse life into any kind of animated object, no matter how they're created... and that's what it's all about, right?
So join the talented Siobhan Twomey in this first course in her Animation Concepts series and learn how to bring your objects to life!
Pestered by my son to help him create some animation, I found myself bewildered by the terms I saw in the software in front of me. This course has cleared all of that up in a perfectly concise package that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in creating animations for themselves. Brilliant, thank you.

A basic course on animation, this instructor brings out the simple things every animator should know. The individual segments are short, to the point, and accompanied with illustrations that develop the concept being discussed. Like learning the basic notes of a piano which all songs are formed from, this course illustrates, and demonstrates the basic concepts and forms from which all animation, 2-D or 3-D is generated from.

This tutorial has been a huge help. I can't believe it has less than an hour running time and I learned exactly what I needed to get started in 2D animation. I was working on an animation in Flash before the I finished the tutorial. Looking forward to the other parts in the series.
